Harden, Blaine. Escape From Camp 14 ($26.95) Harden tells a gripping story. Readers learn of Shin’s gradual discovery of the world at large, nonadversarial human relationships, literature, and hope—and the struggles ahead. A book that all adults should read. Library Journal (starred review)

MacBride, Stuart. Birthdays for the Dead ($32.99)Dark, gripping, and will keep you reading till the very end. The first I’ve read by MacBride and I can honestly say its not going to be the last. He truly is Bloody Brilliant.

Läckberg, Camilla. The Stonecutter ($25.95)        Finally the third in the series is out in a hardcover US edition.

Rankin, Ian. Knots and Crosses ($14.99) Just read the first Detective Rebus novel. Why did it take me this long to pick it up, I have no idea. If you haven’t read this wonderful series I highly recommend it.

Talton, Jon. Powers of Arrest Signed

Lea Love

Baldacci, David. The Innocent Signed ($27.99)

Another new character. An assassin who develops a heart of gold, protecting the innocent and actually caring for the welfare of another person. Baldacci tells a good story every time.

Berry, Steve. The Columbus Affair ($27.00)

New character…a new adventure…Berry never lets us down and then there’s all that historical stuff we learn.

Lackberg, Camilla. The Stonecutter ($25.95)

I love this author. Every book is so engrossing and the characters are so well defined and mostly endearing in their human foibles. Do yourself a favor and read all of her books.

Cash, Wiley. Land More Kind Than Home ($27.00) What a great debut novel! Love that hillbilly noir and this strikes close to home for me. Set in the hills of North Carolina.

Autism and religion are the theme…too bad that includes snakes and poisons in the name of faith

Sandford, John. Stolen Prey Signed ($27.95)

Here we go again …Lucas Davenport enters the darkest nightmare of his career….upscale town, upstanding family, all murdered, even the children and the dog

Pat King

Brennan, Allison. Silenced Signed. ($7.99 )

Lucy Kincaid was assaulted by an online predator; rather than being crippled by the experience, Kincaid decides to fight back against those who assault the innocent and is on a mission to become an FBI agent.  In Brennan’s latest in the series, Kincaid has made it to the FBI Academy and is assigned to a high profile case-a  murder of a high-priced call girl.  Kincaid is assisted in finding the killer with the assistance of Sean Rogan, the highly sexy FBI agent.  Brennan, who is often classified as a Romantic Suspense writer, focuses more on the mystery than the sex and romance.

Farnsworth, Christopher. Red, White and Blood Signed. ($25.95)

Needless to say, Farnsworth’s Red, White and Blood is my favorite book of the month. I have been reading Farnsworth’s Nathaniel Cade series since Blood Oath and I have been a fan since the first page.  In Cade’s latest exploit- the problems begin when Cade encounters an axe-wielding madman in the attempt of killing two love-making teenagers.  Cade manages to stop the monster- but at what price? The Boogeyman is back and he wants to kill the president during his election campaign; Farnsworth’s novel is high paced, timely and a lot of fun.  I found myself reading well into the wee hours of the morning.

Hearne, Kevin. Tricked Signed. ($7.99)

Hearne is back with a vengeance in the fourth in the Iron Druid series.  After the harrowing events of Hammered ($7.99 Signed), Atticus O’Sullivan has only one way out- fake his own death.  He gets the help from Coyote, the notorious Navajo trickster god, but this comes without a price- Atticus is forced to stop skinwalkers from rising.  Hearne takes a new spin on the Urban Fantasy genre and we are all lucky for it.

Moore, Christopher.  Sacre Bleu Signed ($26.99)

What if Van Gogh did not commit suicide but was murdered?  That is the question Christopher Moore begins with his latest novel. In a quest to solve their friend’s murder, Toulouse-Lautrec and Lucien Lessard begin the hunt for his murder.  Moore, quick to throw the unexpected, takes us through a rather trippy  story of Paris and the art scene in the late 19th century.  As a Francophile and a lover of the art movements of this time, I found Moore’s sense of the time and the art scene dead on and funny at the same time.  Like Fool, Sacre Bleu is a slightly more serious novel (though still achingly hilarious) that kept me reading well into the night.

Stewart, Trenton Lee. Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict. ($17.99)

Trenton Lee Stewart’s Benedict Society novels have been a favorite of mine within the realm of Children’s literature.  His writing style mirrors Roald Dahl and it is equivocally charming.  In the latest in the series, Stewart takes us back to how Nicholas Benedict became the creator of the Benedict Society; Benedict faces bullies, evil adults, a rather unfortunate case of narcolepsy and a perplexing mystery that only a precocious nine year old can solve.  Furthermore, Benedict discovers the wonders of friendship and trusting one another.  This is wonderful read a loud for younger children though the size of the novel may intimidate children younger than 3rd grade for self-reading.

Patrick Millikin

Atkins, Ace.  THE LOST ONES Signed ($25.95).

“A great no nonsense crime novel combining elements of the classic western template, a liberal dose of Mitchum’s “Out of the Past” and Atkins’ own hardboiled sensibility, plus thoughtful insights into today’s combat veterans returning from war.”

Busch, Benjamin.  Dust to Dust Signed ($26.99)

“Dust to Dust is an extraordinary memoir about ordinary things: life and death, peace and war, the adventures of childhood and the revelations of adulthood. Benjamin Busch—a decorated U.S. Marine Corps infantry officer who served two combat tours in Iraq, an actor on The Wire, and the son of celebrated novelist Frederick Busch—has crafted a lasting book to stand with the finest work of Tim O’Brien or Annie Dillard.

Cash, Wiley.  A Land More Kind Than Home Signed ($27.00).

“Another addition to the canon of great Southern fiction.  Part coming-of-age novel, part literary thriller, Wiley Cash’s assured debut recalls literary heavyweights Harper Lee, Flannery O’Connor and definitely Carson McCullers.  Do not miss this debut….”

Elliott, Bruce.   One Is a Lonely Number with Black Wings Has My Angel by Elliott Chaze (Stark House, $19.95).

“Two pitch-black noirs from the early 1950′s, the first one a story of an escaped con who gets tragically caught up in the lives of a small town, and the second one the story of destructive lovers who pull off an armored car heist with disastrous results. Includes new introductions by Ed Gorman and Bill Crider.

Estleman, Loren D. Burning Midnight Signed

Holbert, Bruce. Lonesome Animals Signed

Raymond, Derek. Dead Man Upright ($14.95).

“The fifth and final novel in Raymond’s stunning Factory series, published in the states for the first time. If you like dark crime fiction you owe it to yourself to check out Raymond’s work.

Tracy Kingsley

Grabenstein, Chris. Fun House. ($25.00) Yeah!!!! I love this series. The books are narrated by a young police officer with a serious case of hero worship for the bythebooks John Ceepak. This is book #7 with book #6 Rolling Thunder also coming out in paperback this month.

Johnson, Craig. As the Crow Flies Signed ($25.95) This new book is a wonderful addition to a terrific series set in Wyoming.  Mr. Johnson is one of my frequent recommendations and incredibly funny in person. A tv series called Longmire is due to debut this summer on A&E.

Rucka, Greg. Alpha Signed ($24.99) This is the first of a new series by Mr. Rucka, another author i recommend to everyone. His Atticus Kodiak and Tara Chace books are uniformly excellent and he also has written a terrific Batman book.

Swain, James. Dark Magic ($24.99) This is a new character for Mr. Swain. I greatly enjoyed his Tony Valentine series.

Will Hanisko

Rucka, Greg. Alpha Signed

O’Brian, Patrick. The Mauritius Command.  Jack and Stephen head down to Spain to take the Mallorcan Islands from the French. Someone stop me from reading these books.

Scalzi, John. Agent to the Stars. Scalzi has been ahead of his time for a long time. He’s had a blog long before blogs existed and is also a member of Metafilter, an online forum/community.  That said, I think Agent to the Stars, though an obvious satire, is actually spot on. It’s a story of how a Hollywood agent tries to broker a partnership between hideously ugly and smelly aliens and a reluctant human race.

Swarthout, Glendon. The Shootist Signed. My first introduction to Swarthout was meeting his son Miles in the store a couple of weeks ago. Since then I’ve picked up The Shootist and  found the characters to be fully realized and the writing dense and powerful.
