Abbott, Megan Dare Me Signed Another raw and fascinating novel from an author that never lets us down.

Cain, Chelsea. Kill You Twice Signed She’s back!!! and with a vengence. just when archie is beginning to cope with his problems, both mentally and physically, his nemisis and obsession, gretchen, rocks his world again.  Another thrilling, chilling, can’t put it down novel from my fav author…

Gardiner, Meg. Ransom River Signed. Meg has given us her first standalone novel and that’s a good thing…don’t forget to breathe as she draws you into a dark atmospheric thriller..

Keller, Julie. A Killing In The Hills Signed Another hillbilly noir….noir mainly because things always seem so dark and dismal in them thar hills. A debut novel from a W. Va. native  set near my hometown that shows the grip that “hillbilly heroin” has on the sad world these characters are forced to live in…great read

Kepler, Lars. The Nightmare  Have to recommend this one because I loved their first one so much. Another Scandinavian find that’ll knock your socks off…

Koryta, Michael. The Prophet Signed  After his recent otherworldly novels, Michael is taking us in another direction in this story of the conflicts between 2 brothers in a small town in Ohio, where high school football rules.

Patrick Millikin

Abottt, Megan. Dare Me Signed (LittleBrown $25 Aug. 4). Abbott fan Patrick makes a candid appraisal of the work (and himself): “Only a writer as talented and sly could make me want to read a novel about the inner world of varsity cheerleaders.  Like her previous stunner, The End of Everything, this is writing that is so subtle, so nuanced and so sensual that it will guide you gently past your comfort zone.” The PW reviewer (who could be Patrick) writes, “Taking her cue from the power politics of Shakespearean drama and the adrenal intensity of teenaged life, Abbott’s latest thriller should make for entirely captivating—dare I say, criminally compelling—reading.”

Hughes, Dorothy. The Expendable Man. ”Although she’s been unjustly neglected in recent decades, Dorothy B Hughes is poised for major rediscovery by a new generation.  Author of one of the finest noirs ever written, In a Lonely Place, Hughes originally published The Expendable Man in 1963.   Set mainly in 60′s era Phoenix and Scottsdale, the book follows a young doctor who picks up a girl on the freeway between LA and Phoenix and is soon implicated in her murder.”

Krajewski,  Marek.  Death in Breslau. “Melville House Books continues its run of outstanding continental crime fiction  (Derek Raymond, Jakob Arjouni, et al) with this remarkable series set in occupied Poland.  If you can imagine a surreal hybrid of Philip Kerr and Franz Kafka, you’ll dig this.”

Meyer, Deon. 7 Days Signed

Mina, Denise. Gods and Beasts Signed

Tana French.  Broken Harbor Signed ”While I’ve read and admired French’s previous books, this excellent and disturbing novel really impressed me.  If you like the dark, exquisite psychological suspense of UK writers such as Denise Mina and Mo Hayder, you can’t afford to miss Tana French.”

Robert Rosenwald

Hubbard, Janet. Champagne: The Farewell Signed

Ridpath, Michael. Far North (SMP $25.99)

Tracy Kingsley

Abbott, Megan. Dare Me Signed - Last years “The End of Everything” was one of my favorite books of the year.

Cain, Chelsea. Kill You Twice Signed - I love how with each successive book we see a little more to explain the twisted relationship between Archie & Gretchen – Chelsea Cain will be here August 9th!

Disher, Garry. Port Vila Blues - The early books featuring professional thief Wyatt are impossible to get without spending a small fortune  – this book is a little earlier in the series than last years “Wyatt” – Check out Disher’s other terrific series about Australian police officer Hal Challis – that series starts with “The Dragon Man’

Grabenstein, Chris. Black Heart Crypt - I really enjoy this spooky children’s series

Koryta, Michael. The Prophet Signed

Levien, David. Thirteen Million Dollar Pop - Book 3 of a really excellent series featuring ex-cop Frank Behr -  If you haven’t read this series yet, please do – start with “City of the Sun”
